Welcome to the second 2023 edition of the Vietnam Competence Center for Agri-Food Industry Newsletter. Quarterly, we use this format to inform you about key topics in the Vietnamese food sector, current developments and important dates. ⚡Focus Topic: Top 5 Most Reputable Retailers in Vietnam 2022 for FCMG Supermarkets Segment
1. Central Retail (GO!, Big C, Tops Market)
The Central Retail Group in Vietnam - with the brands GO!, Big C, Tops Market..., was named Champion of the top 5 most renowned retail companies in 2022. Central Retail Vietnam achieved total sales of US$1.5 billion in 2022, leading the market share in hypermarket segment and ranked second in shopping mall segment.
2. Wincommerce General Trading Service Joint Stock Company
WCM was the largest modern retail chain in Vietnam in terms of outlet count, with 130 WinMart supermarkets and 3,268 WinMart+ stores by the end of 2022. Also, Wincommerce generated revenue of more than $1.2 billion in 2022.
3. Saigon Union of Trade Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op)
Saigon Co.op has successfully built Co.opmart chain, Co.op Food grocery store, HTVCo.op TV shopping channel, Co.opXtra hypermarket, Co.op Smiles store and Cheers convenience store. To date, Saigon Co.op has nearly 1,000 outlets nationwide. It is the only retail company in Vietnam that operates with the most diverse business models. In 2022, Saigon Co.op achieved sales of more than USD 1.3 billion.
4. MM Mega Market Vietnam (MMVN)
After over 20 years of operation and development, MM Mega Market has established 21 wholesale and supermarket centers and 5 supply stations nationwide with more than 2,000 product suppliers. In addition to the retail segment, MMVN has also become a leading strategic partner for the delivery of various food and goods at competitive prices to professional customer groups (HORECA) across the country.
5.AEON Vietnam Co.Ltd
By the beginning of 2021, AEON Vietnam had put into operation 03 shopping malls, 03 department store and supermarket malls, 29 specialty stores and 02 small and medium-sized supermarkets. The company offers a "one-destination" shopping center model that fully meets the needs of customers. AEON's 2020 revenue was estimated at approximately $600 million.
